EMS are looking for experienced, enthusiastic and forward-thinking Engineering Geologists / Geo-environmental Engineers to join our team. Hybrid working arrangements are offered from both our Hereford Headquarters and Cardiff Office. Role:

These roles would suit ambitious and pro-active individuals in their early to mid-career who want to progress and be an instrumental part of a growing consultancy.

Work will include the delivery of Geotechnical and Geo-environmental services including, but not limited to, report writing including Phase 1 desk studies, site work and report writing for Phase 2 qualitative and quantitative risk assessments including the organisation and undertaking of site investigations, logging, monitoring and sampling, preparation of Phase 3 remediation strategies, earthworks specifications and material management plans and Phase 4 validation reports.

Key responsibilities:

Complete end-to-end project involvement including:

• Liaison with clients, engineers, contractors, sub-contractors and regulators.

• Production of scopes of work and fee proposals.

• Completion of Phase 1 geotechnical and geo-environmental desk studies.

• Design, organisation and execution of Phase 2 site investigations.

• Factual and interpretative reporting of Phase 2 investigations, remediation method statements and validation reports.

• Acting as a Site Agent or similar supporting roles on earthworks and remediation and / ground remediation projects.

• Staying up to date with changing guidance and best practice and passing on knowledge and skills to the rest of the department.

Essential Knowledge and skills:

• BSc in Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or similar. An MSc or industry experience would be advantageous.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Good working knowledge of best practice, industry standards, legislation and technical guidance (eg BS-EN 5930, EA LC:RM and NHBC Standards.)

• Confidence and knowledge of ground investigation techniques with experience with geo-environmental and geotechnical hazards.

• Soils and rock logging to BS5930:2015.

• Gas and groundwater monitoring and sampling.

• Proven factual and interpretive report writing skills including data assessment and analysis.

• Full UK driving licence

Advantageous knowledge and skills

• Asbestos Surveying/ Asbestos in soils/ P402 Qualification

• Knowledge of waste classification and waste issues related to remediation

• An understanding of related disciplines such as civils and structural engineering, transport, air quality and flood risk.

• Competitive salaries based on experience. £25,000 -£35,0000 per annum depending on skill and experience
